4Talking to God

Part Four: God’s Call to Prayer

I have heard the call to pray and to evangelize. Many of my brothers and sisters are getting the same call. Could this be the beginning of the awakening? I just know that I feel the Spirit moving. On what scale, I know not. I’ll leave that knowledge to The Spirit and God’s prophets. I have my part in the body and they have theirs. I only know that I have heard the call.

When Jesus came to Jerusalem, He went into the Temple. What He saw displeased Him greatly. So much so that He cast out all those who bought and sold there and overturned the tables. There were a multitude of people and He was just one unarmed man. Only God could have done that.

v12 And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,
v13 And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.
v14 And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them.
v15 And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the Son of David; they were sore displeased,
v16 And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise? [Matthew 21:12-16 KJV]

What Jesus did first was to cleanse the temple (v12). Then He pronounced that His house would be a house of prayer (v13). Jesus healed the blind and the lame and the house of prayer became the house of power (v14, v15). The house of prayer was thus changed into the house of perfected praise (v16).

Shouldn’t the same progression take place in the church and with each believer? I direct your attention to 1 Corinthians 3:16. . . “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?” The same Spirit that was in Jesus Christ is in you. I exhort you to become a temple (house) of prayer. You can align your soul with your flesh or you can align it with your Spirit. No matter which you choose, it is a majority. I’ll leave you with this question… “How much of a relationship with God do you want?

Lord Jesus Christ, I desire to know you more. I know that I do this through your Word and my prayers to you. I pray that my prayers are of a good incense to you Lord. Help me Lord to be obedient and pure toward you. Cleanse my temple Lord that you may continue to dwell with me. My disobedience to you has made your temple a den of thieves. Please heal my temple Lord. Hosanna to you Lord the Son of David. I desire your house to be a house of prayer. I pray this in your name, Jesus, AMEN.

Transform Prayer from Desire, to Discipline, to Delight.
