Return to your First Love

Part Six of Nine: The Gospel

Yesterday, we learned about a part of God’s plan and why Christ came to Earth. Christ not only came to purchase His Bride through Jewish marriage customs, but He came to take all the sins of the world upon Himself thereby forgiving Adam’s, ours, and everyone else’s sin.

So far we’ve learned three of the Essential doctrines of the Christian faith and the necessity of believing them to stay within the pale of orthodoxy. Those are 1) the Deity of Christ, 2) Salvation by grace, and 3) The Resurrection. Today, we will look at number four, The Gospel.

The Gospel or the Good News of Jesus Christ is about Jesus death on the Cross for our sins, His burial, and resurrection. His resurrection guaranteed man’s relationship with God but only through repentance and the acceptance of Jesus Christ and what He did on the Cross. You can find the Gospel message in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4.

v1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
v2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
v3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
v4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures. . .[1 Corinthians 15:1-4]

By receiving the Gospel [1] and Christ’s love [2], it assures a reconciled relationship with God [3] and an eternity with God [4] and our salvation [5] through Christ’s redemption [6]. Christ forgave our sins [7], and we bought us for a price [8].

To be a Christian, we must accept the Gospel of Jesus Christ and pray the sinner’s prayer. The prayer doesn’t have to be a 30 minute preaching prayer, but a simple prayer prayed in behalf of the repentant with them parroting each stanza after the one praying with them. If you are a nonbeliever and are reading this because of your interest in fellowshiping with God, please consider this short invitational prayer of salvation. Please read this prayer with me:

Dear Jesus,
Thank you for dying for me.
I am a sinner and
I need a savior.
Please come into my heart
and Save me.
In your name Jesus,
Amen.

If you prayed that prayer and meant it, you are a believer and are born again. I can now call you brother or sister in the Lord.

Welcome to the Kingdom of God!

This isn’t a one time shot but just the beginning of totally blessed life. I’d like to ask you to get into a Bible believing church and fellowship with others of like mindedness. Get a Bible and begin to read His Word. I am excited for you. One more thing, Christ says in the Bible that we are ashamed of Him, that He’d be ashamed of us [9], so I’d like to ask you one more thing. Tell somebody what you just did and that you asked the Lord to come into your heart. If you don’t know anyone to tell, I would consider it an honor if you would tell me.
