Will the Real Temple Please Stand Up!

Fifteen hundred B.C., God instructed Moses to build the Tabernacle [1]. The word Tabernacle translates from the Hebrew word Mishkan, which means “dwelling” or “Presence.” It was the earthly dwelling place of God’s Shikhinah glory [2]. God dwelt in the Tabernacle of Moses.

The Tabernacle of Moses was a temporary dwelling place for the Shikhinah glory of God, until Solomon, King David son, built the first Temple in 1000 B.C. God also dwelt in the first Temple for 400 years, until King Nebuchadnezzar’s Babylonian troops tore it down [3]. The second Temple lasted for 585 years [4] when the Romans destroyed the Temple and Jerusalem. Like Jesus had prophesied, not one stone will be left one upon another [5]. The Romans completely demolished the Temple, 40 years after His death and Resurrection.

v2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. [John 14:2 KJV]

Again, if Jesus has any credibility, we must take Him at His Word. It is my belief that we are each one of the many mansions Christ mentions in John 14, and it is us believers, He is going to prepare by the washing of the Word [6]. When Christ left to prepare a place for us. Where did He go? He went to the Father’s house, and Christ told the disciples where that was located? If we love Him.

v23 Jesus answered and said unto him, if a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. [John 14:23 KJV]

God has been living in a Temple for 3500 plus years. God’s Shikhinah glory lived in Moses’ Tabernacle, and in Temple one and in Temple two. We learned last week that we are the Temple of God where He has lived since His death and Resurrection through the Comforter (Holy Spirit). John 14:23 just told us where God made His abode.

Like I said earlier, if they do build a Temple, it will just be a building. I am convinced that we are the third Temple. I welcome all thoughts on this, even if you disagree. God bless you all, in Jesus’ name.

Lord Jesus, thank you for your Word of preparation. Everything we need is the Word and in the Word. Thank you for sending the Comforter, who tells us all things. I am nothing without you. Thank you for making me a part of your plan and to be alive in this time of history. I can’t wait to be with you. I will miss my kids terribly, but I will see them again, when it is their turn to give up their spirit. Lord, I give you praise, glory, and honor, in your precious name, AMEN.

… I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” [7]
