Part Three of Nine: The Deity of Christ

As I sit here on the huge deck at Hurricane, ridge with my oldest son Jim and gaze out at the beautiful Olympic Mountain Range, who could deny the Deity of Christ. I know I certainly cannot. My Lord Jesus reigns as God Almighty in three persons. In continuing from last blog

In part one; we came to the conclusion that we, as Christians must refocus our minds and lives to have a hunger for Jesus Christ, not to be just a Sunday worshiper. In part two, we figured out together that in the essentials, there must be unity, and in the non-essentials, there must be liberty.

To be within the pale of orthodoxy, and claim to be a Christian/believer, we must believe certain things as a corporate body. Like we learned, there is much division in the body of Christ. I pray that this series of blogs will set straight the essential doctrines of belief in the Christian faith. Everything else is up for discussion so as NOT to cause a schism in the body. I’d like to relist a previously used Scripture because I think it is important at this time.

v5 Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus [Romans15:5]

If we are to be like minded in the Christian faith, it is a must that we believe that Jesus Christ is God and that He came in the flesh. Christ was not only Son of God, but He was the son of man. There are churches today that profess to be Christian but fall outside the pale of orthodoxy because they do not believe any of the five essential doctrines [1]. In this day of the ecumenism movement where some are trying to bring all faiths together [2], the Bible says, from such walk away [3]. 1 John 4:2, 3 says,

v2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
v3a And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God. . .[1 John 4:2-3 KJV]

Therefore, if you do not believe that Jesus Christ is God and that He came in the flesh, then you are NOT a Christian and fall outside the pale of Christianity. In fact, if you believe not any one of the essential doctrines, then you are still in your sins. The Word of God is a Christian’s standard and we must believe it from cover to cover to claim our Christianity. John 1:1, 14 says this,

v1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [John 1:1 KJV]
v14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. [John 1:14 KJV]

Tomorrow, we will go over the second essential doctrine of the Christian faith, Salvation by grace.
