Part One: Moses’ reflection
A colleague recently asked me, “Where do you get all your ideas for your blogs?” Well, that was an easy question to answer. I told him, “It was simple, all truth is parallel. For every natural truth, there is an equal and corresponding spiritual truth.” I said, “As writers, all we have to do is keep our eyes open, and observe God’s creation while noticing all the physical things around us. There’s a never-ending plethora of ideas out there if we just look at the world through spiritual eyes.” I told him, “Hey, I even wrote a blog on a speed bump once [1].”
God’s world is ever present before us to see and admire. . .a flower, a mountain scene, a sunset, children, a street lamp, and yes, even a speed bump. God is spirit and made us in His image [2]. He gives us our own burning bush daily, something with which to get our attention to make us STOP, and be still and know that He is God [3].
God is telling us many stories through His creation on a daily basis. All we have to do is look around and observe, listen, and meditate on Him remembering that all truth is parallel.
v1 If then ye were raised together with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated on the right hand of God.
v2 Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are upon the earth.
v3 For ye died, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
Colossians 3:1-3
My youngest brother, Jeff, is also well aware of this spiritual truth himself. In fact, he came over to my place recently just to share a natural phenomenon that all of us see. . .every night. Wow, minus the fact that I am glad to see him anytime, I am especially glad that he came over just to share. Here is the story he told me.
Jeff loves to walk and does so nightly in the brisk evening air. He told me about some “God time” he had on just such a walk a couple nights prior.
Jeff lives in a little quiet and old country town and during that particular outing; the moon was especially bright and full. As he admired the moon’s beauty, the Lord began sharing with him as he walked along. Anyway, Jeff told me that he saw Moses in the moon.
Wow! That was compelling, so I asked him to elaborate.
He said that the moon was a reflection of the sun. Jeff said, “God reminded me of Moses and the burning bush and how it was a reflection of Christ – His Son. He told me of an eclipse and how it blocks the reflection of the sun.” God said, “The worldly and flesh actions of my children acts as an eclipse and blocks the light of my Son [4]. Moses turned away from me because he was afraid and could not look upon me and my holiness [5]. My children do the same thing because they either dislike me or are afraid of me as the Israelites were at the foot of Mount Horeb [6].”
By the time Jeff reached town, he was walking at least six inches off of the ground.
Wow! Awesome Bro! What a special “God time” you experienced.
Well, progressive revelation kicked in all but immediately and I had to share with Jeff what I saw in his story from God. I told Jeff, “Not only an eclipse bro, but what about ‘As the World Turns?’ With each revolution, it is like mankind turning their backs on God. . .but guess what, even if man turns his back on God, Christ’s reflection is still there in the sky. The Word of God is that reflection and mirror of Christ. In fact, Christ is the Word [7] and He has said that He’d never leave or forsake us [8].
I thought to myself, All of this from the moon. Wow! Many spiritual truths crowded my mind. This was an awesome experience that my brother had. It certainly does pay to observe God’s creation.
Now, it’s your turn. What else do you see in Jeff’s moon story from God as he walked the streets of town? If you see something else or a spiritual truth regarding Jeff’s vision of the moon, why not share your progressive story with us.
Thanks for sharing your moon story with me (us) Jeff. God bless you brother brother. Love ya pal.
Next week: Jeff and I will share a couple more parallels that we saw regarding some other insights of Jeff’s ‘moon walk’ during his special “God time” with the Lord.
A note to my readers: I pray that this sparks you all into looking at God’s world/creation differently. It is there for all of us to see and experience, if we will just have the right perspective and focus. God bless you all and thanks for reading my blog.
